Products I Love

Hello, all you wonderful people! πŸ™‚ Hope you are all safe & well!

So, my previous blog post touched on my battle with my skin condition Rosacea and I gave you all a little background on how and when the little menace began to appear on my face. For me, some days are better than others but I wanted to use this post to show you all the skincare products that I have been using recently to try and relieve the symptoms. So sit back, relax, and prepare to be amazed by the amazing results I have encountered recently. I feel like a new woman using these products! πŸ™‚ So here we go…

Over the years I have used countless products and I found that they were actually doing more bad than good to my skin, I would rub my face with so much force that I would make the redness and the bleeding worse, it was almost as if I was trying to use the face cloth as an eraser and no matter how hard I scrubbed, it would not budge. It is one little stubborn s##thead! I began researching the condition and found that top tip number 1 was to wash my face twice daily and GENTLY!! BLEW IT DIDN’T I. Maybe it’s me who is the stubborn s###thead?? Maybe I just expected to click my fingers and I would be able to see the actual colour of my nose again? You have to work at skincare and boy it’s a hard job.

Anyway, I did learn to stick to the same product, and found that consistency is key, and using products from the same brand is vital. I saw from reviews and advice online that the brand La Roche-Posay is the fire extinguisher to put out Rosacea fires!! When I first looked at the product I could tell it was definitely a high-end skincare range, imagine my luck when I saw what I was looking for in Boots on a deal for Β£18.37!! BONUS OR WHUT. Hold the applause guys, ah thank you!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Anti-Blemish 2-Step Kit

This two-step Anti-Blemish kit has legit saved my life, it also helps acne if anyone is an acne-sufferer. The kit contains a fragrance-free face wash (try saying that after a few gins, I dare you LOOOL) for anyone who suffers from sensitive skin fragrance-free products are your best friends. YES, fragranced products make you smell good but your skin underneath will be plotting your demise let me tell you, as it will irritate your pores and cause serious irritation to your skin. The face wash feels amazing on the skin as it goes on with no hassles/dramas, I always feel so fresh after using the face wash as I feel as if my pores have been unclogged from dirt, dry skin, etc leaving my skin refreshed and hydrated. I use this every morning and night to see the effects. The last part of the kit is the moisturiser, it pretty much does what it says on the tin, saving my skin from dryness, applying a small layer of cream (less is more) to the face and neck and it keeps my face lovely and fresh-faced. I also use this as a base for when I apply my foundation and it allows my make-up to sit lovely – I will also blog what make up I am using as Rosacea sufferers must wear make-up with particular ingredients to not irritate the skin.

Revive Collagen

There is another product which I am currently trialing, if anyone is familiar with Samantha Faiers from TOWIE or more recently The Mummy Diaries, she has recently released an orally taken skincare range called Revive Collagen. Collagen I believe is required all around the body, as time goes on we develop wrinkles as collagen decreases – I take from this that the elasticity of our skin weakens as we get older and our skin can appear dull and weathered. By taking Revive Collagen, this can increase the bounce (collagen) back in our faces, revive collagen can be taken in a pill form or as a liquid taken by itself or mixed with water or juice. Wow. Did I just perform my first Biology lesson?? Its been day 6 for me and my relationship with Revive Collagen and I opted to take it in liquid form, I mix it with diluting Vimto as I am a complete wuss and cannot handle the taste by itself, I can’t even tell you what it tastes like as I literally can’t put my finger on it, at first it has a citrus taste and then it tastes like melted jelly, I am so weird I will not touch jelly at all…bleeeurgh 😦 Forgot to mention as rosacea is a redness/blemish issue, revive collagen contains Aloe Vera and acts as an anti-inflammatory, taking away some of my redness which has helped me tremendously. I have included before and after picture pics if anyone is curious about my progress.

Before – taken 31/08/20
After – 21/09/20 (I know I look like a grump but this is my concentrating face…honest)

As you can see from the before picture my face is red, angry, and just plain sore looking, but after 3 weeks of washing my face daily using the La Roche-Posay range alongside a few days of taking Revive Collagen, you can see some slight differences, the redness above my eyebrows is completely gone, my cheeks and nose always do take the longest to heal, I think I mentioned in my previous post that being Type 1 Diabetic also affects the rate my skin heals after an outbreak as it takes me a lot longer than the average person to heal completely. Absolutely chuffed with my progress πŸ™‚ isn’t it mad how much our skin can affect our mood? I feel like I can accomplish anything and have a positive mindset when I wake up and I am having a “good face-day”. Anyone else?

I have rambled on enough about the skincare products I use, but I hope that I have given you some ideas of the products I am using at the moment, if anyone has any suggestions or skincare tips, I would love to hear them πŸ™‚ I will be back with my follow up progress as time goes on so that you all can see how my skin is progressing.

Thank you all for reading πŸ™‚ Stay safe & well everyone!

Lots of Love,

Emma Ashley
